Dorsey Sports medicine and law Magnet
The Sports Medicine and Law Magnet (Formerly the Law and Public Service Magnet) at Dorsey High School is dedicated to creating well-rounded students who are highly motivated, self-disciplined, and well prepared for college and career opportunities in law and legal services, or health-care professions in the broad area of sports medicine including but not limited to a medical assistant, physical therapist, athletic trainer, licensed vocational nurse, registered nurse, radiology technician, emergency medical technician, paramedic, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner, as well as law including judges, contract law attorneys, entertainment attorneys, business attorneys. private practice attorneys, court reporters, sports agents, senators and criminal justice reformers. The magnet would still provide legal education for students interested in the Legal Studies Pathway where students would demonstrate mastery in Juvenile Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Writing. For students who are interested in health-care professions and the Patient Care Pathway, the Career Technical Education (CTE) Health Science and Medical Technology (HSMT) Sector would allow students the demonstrate mastery in Medical Terminology, Sports Medicine, and Physical Therapy. Alongside these grade-level electives, students demonstrate mastery of the California Standards, and the Common Core Standards.

The Sports Medicine and Law Magnet prepares our students for a post-secondary education in medicine and law through a high-quality education. Students develop essential knowledge and skills in medicine, patient care, and legal, regulatory, political, ethical, and economic aspects of law while fostering an environment of innovative technology, inclusivity, advocacy, inquiry, critical thinking, and personal growth.

The Dorsey Science/Tech/Math Magnet offers a rigorous high school curriculum for students to engage in Science, Technology, & Math related fields. The program is designed for highly motivated & self-directed students. Our tightly-knit program provides Common-Core Standards-based instruction, advanced placement courses, & college preparatory A-G classes. Our program is also designed to equip students with 21st-century critical thinking & problem-solving skills for college and career. Technology is one of the cornerstones of this program in which students are capable of demonstrating mastery in computer programming, robotics, and computer science.

Dorsey Firefighter/ems Magnet
The Dorsey Senior High School Firefighter Academy Magnet offers the opportunity for students to learn about a career in the Fire Service and Emergency Response in collaboration with the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Students will be provided with life learning opportunities with hands on experiences to develop career skills, knowledge, and abilities to prepare and understand what is required to attain career in Emergency Response.
